Capitalizing On Mormonism?

Helen Schie is selling her 1830 first-edition Book of Mormon... one page at a time.

Going rate for a small piece of the tome? Anywhere from $2,500 to $4,500. Assuming she can sell each page for her minimum asking price, Schie could net close to three-quarters of a million dollars.

Some librarians are of the thought that a book of this importance to Mormonism should be left intact. Schie differs in her opinion and says that by disseminating individual pages, the book will reach a wider audience. "Hundreds of people have touched and felt the spirit of this book already."

Schie has every right to do whatever she wants with her copy of the book. If people feel that shelling a couple thousand out to own a single page from it will help bring them and their family closer to God, more power to them.

Personally, I think they're stupid.
