LOST To Be Found Sooner?

Yeah, yeah. Stupid title, I know. Get over it.

It looks like ABC may be shortening the show's hiatus amid fears that it's ratings-challenged replacements will cause the network to lose it's Wendnesday footing.

If done, the show would return either January 10th or 17th. Probably a good move considering that ratings for the third season were already lower than the previous two. Taking the full 13 week break would only further damage what's become a fragile and frustrated fan-base (no alliteration intended).

Personally, this break has left me questioning my loyalty to the show. I'm sure I will tune in for the Season 3.2 premiere, but it's gonna have to be even better than 3.1's to keep me devout.

I've found a new love. And his name is Jack Bauer. Jack was a good boyfriend and decided to give me a 2-night, 4 hour season premier for my birthday.

Gonna be hard to top that ABC.

Someone's Gettin' Boone'd Tonight

Commercials for tonight's episode of LOST indicate that one of the survivors will be killed off. Now, taking into account the state of Mr. Eko from last week, I'm gonna say he'd be the obvious choice.

But LOST isn't known for doing the obvious, so....

A Letter To The Writers Of Lost

Dear JJ, Damon, etal:

By the time I had been forced to wait week-to-week to find out what would happen to the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815, the 2nd season was more than half over. At that point, the show was steam-rollin' along. The Tailies teamed up with the Fuselagies, Michael's dialogue was reduced to dramatic readings of the phrases "I want my boy!" or "Where's my son?", and the once stalwart Locke was loosing his faith in The Button. Having experienced the first 30 or so episodes within the span of two weeks, I found the drastic changes of the characters very entertaining. Once I was all caught up with the rest of the world, I was hooked.

And then the season 2 finale. Hot damn. Michael betrays the other survivors. Jack, Sawyer, and Kate are captured by that bug-eyed "Henry Gale" and his clan of Others. And the hatch effing explodes. Some questions answered. Some remained. October couldn't come fast enough.

Well now, October's here. We're two weeks into the highly anticipated 3rd season, and I gotta' ask: What the fuck happened? Historically, at 10pm on Wednesdays, my roommates and I would sit around bouncing different theories off each other. I'd spend the following Thursdays talking about the show with co-workers, emailing friends and family about it, textbook dorky watercooler stuff.

Now I'm watching Kate and Sawyer mine rocks for some reason. Gauging Jack's reaction the Red Sox winning the World Series. And witnessing a pregnant Sun go all Rambo (ok, that was kinda' cool).

My point is, you can't just incessantly pile on questions without providing any answers. It was more or less tit-for-tat in the past, but nothing that was presented in the finale has been explained so far this season. I know we're only two episodes in, and that's why I'll continue to tune in. But for the love. A bone every now and then would be much appreciated. At the very least, if you're not going to answer shit, stop with what appears to be pointless filler.

We know Sawyer's a badass who constantly gets beat up. We know Kate has an ass for days. We know Jack is a stubborn know-it-all.

A little help. Please.

LOST Season Premiere

So yeah. The first couple minutes was a genuine "Lost W.T.F. Moment". Very well done writers. Very well done indeed.

After that however, it pretty much turned into the Jack, Kate, and Sawyer hour. And unless I missed some .429 second clip at the end of Season 2, there were 40-some odd other survivors of Flight 815 who had stories going on as well. I don't need an entire episode devoted to how Sawyer got a biscuit, Kate took a shower, and Jack dwelled over his ex-wife.

They're captured by the Others. We got it. I actually had a pretty good idea that had happened at the end of last season, what with the burlap bags over the heads and all. A few tasty morsels were thrown in to raise questions (why was she sad?), but overall... B-. I was hopin' for an A+, so that hurts a bit.

The best part of the show should never be the previews for next week's episode. But it was....

.... And that's why I'll be tuning in again next week.
