Ebonics To Be Taught In San Bernardino?? Dawg, Dees Jiggas Be Buggin' So Bad Thay's Wack!

Sounds like a great idea.

Read the whole story, 'cause it really is da' bomb shiz-nizell, but here's one of my favorite parts from a sociology prof at Cal State SB, Mary Texeira (one hella-thick ho).

"'Ebonics is a different language, it's not slang as many believe,' Texeira said. 'For many of these students Ebonics is their language, and it should be considered a foreign language. These students should be taught like other students who speak a foreign language.'"

A foreign... uhhh... a foreign lang.... foreign language? That right? Hmmm... Help me out Mary, 'cause I'm lost... could you point to an area on the globe where Ebonics is spoken? Some country or region maybe?

Yeah, thanks.

Shockingly enough, there are some people out there that feel like this idea ain't all 'dat bumpin'.

"Essentially they are telling black kids that they can't meet the linguistic expectations of other racial groups. Those kids who take that message to heart and fail to learn English properly will be forever harmed by the school district."

Shiee, you buggin'???

This wouldn't be an attempt to build that bridge that goes to that village where the chief takes care of everyone and no one has to actually work to succeed in today's world would it...?

PS - For those not wishing to defer success in Ebonics, go here for a brief but thorough introduction. Just to get a leg up.

**Brainstorm/Contest** Anyone that can translate the prologue of Beowulf from the modern English text into Ebonics, gets a gold star for the day and a cookie next time I see ya'.
